Kathleen Turner Then
It was difficult to go to the movies in the 1980s without seeing Kathleen Turner. She starred in several popular films, including Body Heat, Romancing the Stone, Prizzi’s Honor, The War of the Roses, and Peggy Sue Got Married. Her seductive voice and smoldering good looks made her an ideal choice for the role of Hollywood’s femme fatale. During the decade, she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award.
Kathleen Turner Now
Kathleen Turner has little control over her transformation from a sex siren to a regular human being. She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in the 1990s, which caused her excruciating pain and necessitated the use of a wheelchair. Some people chastised her for gaining weight and bloating while on the drug she was prescribed for her recovery. Turner, like so many other female actors, was pushed out of the limelight, and as a result, her acting offers shifted from “star” to “mother” or even “grandmother.” Her arthritis has thankfully improved in recent years, and she has made guest appearances on Friends, Nip/Tuck, and Californication, among others. We’re relieved to see how much better she looks and feels.
