Years Of Service
As of now, the 12 subs are due to be in service from 2042 until 2085- 43 years in total. Colombia was given its name in honor of the U.S Capitol, supposedly. The second sub, the USS Wisconsin, is due to be named in October 2020. The lead submarine will be named the USS Columbia (SSBN-826). These subs may still be in the process of development, but they possess some pretty great features.

Where the Ohio-class subs required refueling somewhere in the middle of their service lives, the Columbia-class submarines will have a nuclear fuel core. This will ensure that the power will last them for the duration of their life expectancy. Similarly to the Ohio-class subs, the Columbia-class subs will have a beam of 42 feet. The difference is however, that the Ohio-class submarines will have 16 missile launch tubes rather than 24.
