William Moody
William Moody, also known by his ring names of Percival ‘Percy’ Pringle III and Paul Bearer, built a name for himself as a professional wrestler and manager. After undergoing a gastric bypass procedure, he was able to speak about his nearly 200-pound weight loss for the first time. During that 2003 interview, he commented about how he was finally able to see body parts that he had not seen in a long time during the conversation. When he renewed his WWE contract, gastric sleeve surgery was included in the package deal, which he accepted. After 20 years, he was able to lose enough weight to once again weigh less than 300 pounds.
Etta James
Etta James lost approximately 200 pounds after undergoing gastric sleeve surgery in 2001, according to her website. That magnificent vocalist was in her twilight years when she became so overweight that she needed to be pushed around the stage during her concerts. When she reached 400 pounds, she realized she needed to do something about it if she wanted to save her career. She had spoken with Roseanne Barr and had made the decision to go under anesthesia. She later stated that while the operation was successful in helping her reduce weight, it also posed difficulties in maintaining a healthy food intake.
