Harvey, in all his thoroughness, discovered that the citizens of the town had defied the German mandate in order to give Billie a ceremonial heroic funeral, one that he deserved. This was done in order to recognize Billie’s sacrifices. Billie’s memory has been honored over the years and decades, and they have acknowledged that he was the one who saved them. They do this three times a year to commemorate Billie by marching down Place Billie D. Harris, which is named after her.

Because no one knew if Billie had family or if anybody would ever come to find him, the inhabitants of the village proceeded to adorn his gravestone in order to honor and cherish his life and memory. The majority of folks regarded Billie as their personal superhero in real life. When the mayor of the town talks about Billie, he almost always becomes upset and begins crying. They will be eternally thankful to Billy for that single decisive moment when he chose the safety of others over his own life. Peggy used to send flowers to her husband’s grave ten times a year to remember him and honor the time she and her husband had spent together.
