Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI

The Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI was one of the largest wooden airplanes ever built, and it flew for the first time in 1902. Its origins can be traced back to World War I. In addition to being a German four-engine bomber, it was equipped with a closed cockpit, which was unusual at the time. There were just 18 units produced. Six planes crashed, four were shot down, and two experienced technical difficulties.

Kawanishi H8K

When the Imperial Japanese Navy needed to conduct a maritime patrol, the Kawanishi H8K proved to be extremely useful. It was designed to fly vast distances on its own and to do it autonomously. When the United States entered World War II, it was known as “Emily” by the British. This was only used in combat once, in 1942, but it remained in service until the end of World War II.
