Convair XC-99
This is one of the largest and most historic aircraft in the world. The Convair XC-99 was designed to transport either 400 soldiers in combat gear or 100,000 pounds of cargo. The first airplane took to the sky in 1947, marking the beginning of the modern era. Ten years later, in 1957, it was decommissioned. This piston-engine plane was used by the United States Air Force to transport large freight.
Antonov An-124
This aircraft was created by the Antonov Design Bureau in the 1980s and is still in service today. Since then, it has found application in both military and commercial aviation. More than fifty of them were manufactured and subsequently distributed throughout the world. It is a strategic airlift quad-jet that was once the world’s heaviest freight plane until the Antonov AN-225 surpassed it.
