HK-1

What is the origin of the nickname “Spruce Goose” for the HK-1? As you can see, it was constructed almost entirely of birch. This aircraft was intended to be a transatlantic transport plane during World War II, but it was not finished on time. The United States military only ever flew this aircraft once. The prototype for this model was created in a single piece.

This is a flying boat designed and built by the Germans in 1944 and first flown in 1945. Yes, this is yet another plane from the Second World War that has been restored. With a weight of 120,769 pounds, the Blohm and Voss BV 238 was the biggest airplane ever built at the time. Due to the fact that it required too much money and labor to construct, they only ever produced a single unit.
