Geena Davis Then
In the 1980s, Geena Davis was a hot commodity. When Beetlejuice and then Thelma and Louise catapulted her to box-office superstardom, it appeared that she could do no wrong. In the 1990s, you couldn’t turn around in a supermarket without seeing Davis and her ex-husband Jeff Goldblum on the cover of a magazine. Their reimagining of the classic horror film The Fly is revolting. The only real blemish on the ointment was Renny Harlin’s flop Cutthroat Island, directed by her now ex-husband. They made the film specifically to aid Geena’s career launch. She was on the verge of drowning as a result of the failure.
Geena Davis Now
Despite being in her sixties, Geena maintains her youthful appearance. The well-known actress can be seen here demonstrating her support for the Women’s Sports Foundation in their fight for gender equality in sports. Geena continues to perform on occasion, but she now focuses her efforts on advocacy. She’s even started her own research center to investigate media gender stereotypes. She was one of 300 women who applied for a spot on the women’s archery team for the 1999 Olympic Games. If Disney sells the Hunger Games franchise, she could play an older Katniss Everdeen.
