Deodorizing Lunch Boxes
Is there leftover tuna in your child’s lunchbox that has been there for a week? With a short deodorizing treatment, you can stop holding your breath every time you open it and save them from lunchtime embarrassment. Place a slice of white bread in the lunchbox overnight after soaking it in white vinegar. By dawn, the stench should be gone.
Clean Cutting Boards With Vinegar
Use full-strength white vinegar to disinfect and sanitize your wood cutting boards or butcher block countertop after each use. The acetic acid in vinegar acts as a disinfectant, destroying germs like E. coli. Staphylococcus, Salmonella Water, and dishwashing soap should never be used since they may destroy the surface wood fibers. To deodorize and clean your wooden cutting board, sprinkle baking soda on it and then spritz it with undiluted white vinegar. Allow for foaming and bubbling for 5–10 minutes before washing with a clean, cool towel.
