Doing the Work
They both realized that they had a lot of work to do to regain each other’s trust and to create a new kind of relationship. They were committed to doing the work, though, for the sake of the child and for the sake of their own emotional well-being.
Accepting the Unchangeable
Henry also had to come to terms with the fact that he will never know what it was like to be a biological father of this child. It was a difficult realization, but he found solace in the fact that he could still have a meaningful and loving relationship with the child.
