Greeks are known to love all kinds of sweets and desserts which are often rich in honey and olive oil. One of the most classic desserts you must try is Baklava, especially if you’re looking for the quintessential Greek food experience. Mainly filled with nuts, filo pastry, and honey which is then baked. After this, sweet syrup is poured over so the crispy layers absorb all the sweetness. This truly is one of the most popular and delicious desserts you will find in Greek.

Stuffed Grape Leaves (Dolmadakia)

This may not be every first pick, but experts highly recommend that you at least just taste Dolmadakia which are stuffed grape leaves. So what exactly is inside the leaves? Well, you will find different variations from lamb to beef and sometimes both along with rice stuffing. However, you can also find them stuffed with seafood, vegetables, and sometimes even fruit. This appetizer dish can be served either hot or cold.

Greek Salad

We all know and love a good Greek salad, right? Greek salad is a must-have for Greeks at almost every meal. This salad is made of tomatoes, olives, cucumber, onions, and a large piece of feta cheese and is most of the time served undressed. For many decades, Greeks have been considered to be masters of charcoal-grilled and spit-roasted meats. A definite must-try is something called Souvlaki, which essentially chunks of skewered pork, chicken, beef, or lamb. Nowadays with so many people becoming vegan and vegetarian, vegetable skewers are also available. These are usually made with sliced tomato and onion, and fried potatoes.
