Milly’s new friend remained unknown to her parents for several days. She was spending more time in her room than usual, and no one noticed. This looked odd to them because Milly was often begging to go outside. They didn’t feel compelled to oppose it at the moment. They went into Milly’s room frequently but never observed anything out of the ordinary. They had no idea about the improvised terrarium she had hidden under her desk.
