Getting Ideas From Two Shows
Bewitched appears to be less innovative than you anticipated! The premise for the sitcom appears to have been heavily influenced by both 1958’s Bell, Book, and Candle and 1942’s I Married a Witch. Nonetheless, because it was produced by Screen Gems, the show was able to avoid any accusations of obvious imitation. That was a division of Columbia Pictures, the company that produced the two films.
