Both Jeff and Mike were completely freaked out by the sound, which resembled a muffled scream but was much quieter. They stared at each other with terror in their eyes, but they realized that in order to find out more, they needed to proceed. They were taken aback when the staircase abruptly terminated and they found themselves in the ship’s mechanical area.

They were able to hear the water dripping down, and there was a thin layer of water that they had to navigate while they were there. They made an effort to be as quiet as possible in order to track down the sound coming from the muffles, but the sound reverberated throughout the ship. This made it significantly more difficult to locate the source of the sound.
